About Wesley
Wesley Ryan James Paterson is a Canadian management consultant, keynote speaker, and author. He is President of Paterson Consulting Inc., a Medicine Hat, Alberta firm recognized as the 2025 Management Consultancy Firm of the Year — Canada, and Vice Chair of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants of Alberta.
With more than 500 consulting engagements across energy, manufacturing, healthcare, government, and cleantech, Wesley specializes in operational excellence, leadership development, and organizational transformation. He holds a Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge (2004) and has held the Certified Management Consultant (CMC) designation since 2019 through CMC-Canada.
Wesley’s first book, The Hero’s Rope: Stop Carrying People Across the River and Start Teaching Them to Cross Themselves (April 2026), challenges the rescue culture in modern organizations. Drawing on two decades of consulting practice and his training as a fourth-degree black belt in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, he identifies twenty rescue behaviors that create dependency in teams and offers a framework for building anti-fragile, self-directed organizations.
He lives in Medicine Hat, Alberta, with his wife and their blended family of five children.
